Hi Support,
I could be wrong, and I am not an expert in this area, but is there any chance that the CNAME info that Peerboard is giving out when someone is adding a custom domain, is wrong or is going to be misunderstood by the vast majority of people?
I kept a screenshot of the CNAME instructions given to me, in case I made mistake.
My site addess is EXAMPLE.COM and I want my custom domain to be COMMUNITY.EXAMPLE.COM. So, the CNAME settings I was given was:
Create one CNAME to point:
COMMUNITY.EXAMPLE to point to peerboard.com
Please note, it does not say example.com etc
Secondly, create a second CNAME to point
PEERBOARD.COMMUNITY.EXAMPLE to point to peerboard.com
again it does not say .com and it looks all wrong.
If I am wrong, I don't have an issue with that, because my knowledge of this is minimal. My knowledge comes from adding DNS records for various SaaS products. I question it, because even with propagation it's taken a fair amount of time.
So, I took a chance and set it up the way I thought WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE SAID, and within 5 minutes of changing, my custom domain is working. I don't think the SSL has been setup or propagated, but I can go to it.
I didn't want to share my screenshot because I wanted to keep the domain private, but the instructions would DEFINITELY be confusing to your average person.
Thanks.
