I just wanted to pass along some gratitude:
We tried a buncha different community options for our Thinkific platform and never had any real success getting our students to engage.
We heard about Peerboard from a Thinkific developer and holy cow - now they are talking so much, and the community is so vibrant, that they're turning to our Peerboard instead of their usual social media apps! Here's something one student said this morning:
Just want to say how very grateful I am for this community. Last night I did exactly what I tell my family never to do … I got on twitter at bedtime after seeing an alert about the Michigan State shooting. Oh my heart. Reading posts by children stuck in their dorms …the vulnerability of those who were out …. I fell asleep thinking about them, I dreamed about them, and I woke up this morning grieving. For the senseless loss of life (again), for the accute trauma both they - and all of us! - continue to experience…
But, I’m saying nothing that hasn’t already been said. What I really started this post to say, is thank you. This morning i decided not to open twitter, and came here instead. Reading all the posts and comments here fills me with such a feeling of “these are my people” - as different as we all are. Such a beautiful sense of community.
So I want to thank katja and ryn for providing us with this space. For being so “human” - for lack of better word - and for all of you who post with your every day problems and words of advice! It truly does feel like a safe space where we all can gather (even if, like me, you’re one who does more reading than public posting).
So that’s all I want to say. Thank you … and sending love to all on this Valentines Day. It’s the one thing (well, and maybe some howthorn and rose to go along with it) we all could use an endless supply of.
I'm so grateful that our student community is now vibrant and active enough that students can turn to it even when they're feeling bad, and know that there will be people and conversations going on there that will lift them up. We were never able to make that happen with any of the other plugins/tech options that we tried!
