So I love the fact that we can edit a current post, save the edits/updates and it stays where it is in the algorithm/etc. I am definitely not suggesting to get rid of that.
However, there are posts that you may want to make some drastic changes to, and you would like it to get put back into the "top of the stack"...I know the easy solution is to simply make a new post and delete the old one. So here is my use case:
- I have a board for Magicians where I have one of the categories being used as "Directories".
- One of the Directories is "Shops"
- My plan is to invite the owners of Magic Shops to Create a post in this category for their shop, and that post will act as the shop listing for the Directory. This will hopefully serve two purposes: 1) it gives me another "member" in my community 2) hopefully they will be advertising they are on the board which will drive others to the community.
- Now, let's say the shop wants to update their listing - may be even to add a promotion to their post. I would like them to be able to click a "Renew" or "Update" or "Refresh" Listing Button (not sure what it would be called), to get them back on top of the listings as a "new Post" but it would still keep all their comments, keep the same post id (in case they shared it), etc. Ideally, it would show a badge saying "Updated" next to the post so people know it has had a drastic update.
Does this make sense? Anyone else see a use case for something like this, or is this just a narrow niche?
