I could break these down into several threads, that might help separate them and discuss them each individually, but I just listed them all together eher instead... :)
I have them in order of importance for Thinkific integration with our classes.
- Filter Threads by recent activity (posts, comments, and replies).
- Some indicator of new comments and replies within a thread.
- In-House Notifications, rather than just email.
- The ability to tag users, giving them a notification.
- Text formatting for bold and italics made easier and available in comments and replies.
Right now threads are just listed by date created. Running a course we have some questions and conversations that go on for days and sometimes weeks. It is a great struggle to do this when there are many new posts each day. The older ones that have new comments are getting buried.
This is related to the New COmment Indicators. For us, this is a huge deal to allow ongoing discussions to be easily accessible and easily visible.
Being able to order threads by date or recent activity would be a game changer.
New Comment Indicators
Having a way to see when new comments and replies are posted in a thread. I do get email notifications of all of these I'm getting between 15-45 emails a day. As we keep transitioning more of our courses over this number is going to significantly increase. This is really hard to skim through the content, catch the context, see which class it's part of, etc. in a big list of emails. Plus, now I'm having an issue keeping track of customer service emails and other work communication.
I'll have to make some new smart folders to save my inbox. However... I've largely stopped using the emails and just dig through the threads looking for those ongoing discussions. But our class members are not going back to old posts as much as they have in the past.
I'm looking at one of my posts that is pinned to welcome people to the new discussion forum and I'm seeing new comments and replies in the thread, but the thread isn't bolded to indicate there is new content. It's only bolded the first time it's published and I haven't viewed it.
A recent notifications section that shows new posts/comments on posts you create and comments you liked or are subscribed to. Having a bell with the number of new posts to what you are following.
Moderating courses I'm getting buried in emails and it is hard to follow the context and flow. Jumping back and forth between email and the forum is a bit of a hassle.
Kind of like the Facebook notifications quick access drop down menu.
Being able to do @Ian Cox and give a direct notification to that user would be incredible!
Especially in a class setting where the members are often reaching out to the mentors/teachers to ask specific questions. Or if a post needs someone's attention, sharing posts/threads with particular members to help them out or ask them to share. This enable us the teachers/mentors to respond to our students and engage more personally.
Maybe even allowing admins/moderators/those with permission to do @Group to notify everyone who is a member of that particular group or category. This would be nice.
Making it easier to make bold and italicize text when creating a post. And enabling the feature for comments and replies.
These would be really helpful in managing and engaging in the classes we do in Thinkific.
You guys have made a lot of improvement over the last year and have been great to work with in launching the thinkific integration.
I want to put one last plug in for our #1 item above to really help us with engagement and quality discussion in our classes.
We greatly appreciate your work. Excited about the future with our classes by leveraging peerboard for a long time! Excited for the coming improvements and the quality of life with the thinkific integration.
I can bold a sentence here though, see:
Testing a bold sentence.
~~And a strike through sentence.~~
But I can't do this below...
